Keep Going!

I painted this to express the idea that you can’t outrun yourself. Problems that you have caused won’t disappear just because you’ve left. But since you can’t outrun them, you should keep going through to the other side. I wanted it to seem like the horse was jumping over the obstacle to clearer ground.

Papier Mache/mixed media

Along with the papier mache background, I also used papier mache on parts of the horse’s body. In particular the closest ear to us, brow, front left and hind left legs. I tried to give the painting a little bit of a 3D feel.

Clean lines

I was looking to get a very ‘clean’ feel for the horse itself and so tried to minimise on any blurring between colours. This created quite clear lines for the horse as well as shadows and highlights which I’m pleased with.
