First sketches of the humpback whale, trying to get a sense of the different limbs and elements of it’s make up.

Under layers of green and blue have been set down and left to dry.

Initial layering of cerulean blue and primary blue for the main whale body. I decided to try a departure from my usual controlled style and go for a looser type of painting.

I wanted to convey more movement using the new style.
